TESSA LYNCH
  Alexandrite Exhibition

Alexandrite at Collective 13 April - 23 May 2010 - A solo show of work by artist Tessa Lynch. Tessa exhibits new work, developed whilst on residency at Edinburgh International Climbing Arena.

Tessa's exhibition at Collective has incorporated the performance-making process through working with film documentation of the workshops and rehearsals at EICA as well as filming the live  performance on Sunday 11 April. By combining these different fragments of film, the work offers an insight into the process of the performance and plays with ideas of reenactment. The work in the exhibition takes the form of a series of prints, influenced by Francis Picabia's abstract drawings and mechanomorphs. In gallery II, an installation work explores the theatrical trickery of Dr.Pepper's Ghost - an illusionary technique used in theatre and magic tricks, using a sheet of glass and special lighting techniques. Tessa invites the viewer to interact with the installation and explore the dual illusion.
